Coming Up For Air - is an unframed Limited Edition Giclee Art Print by contemporary Aboriginal artist, Lou Martin

Part of the 'Coming Up For Air' series, this limited edition print is a representation of finding clarity amongst the turmoil, a physical reminder to stop and come up for air. It is deliberately detailed to ensure the viewer pauses for a time.

Sometimes life has a way of becoming unexpectedly overwhelming, spinning difficult times into one another, like a set of waves you weren’t prepared for. The first wave can sweep your feet out from under you, the second just as unexpected as the first, you open your eyes beneath the surface on the third to see the whitewash above. It can be difficult to ground your feet, but when you do, you push up from the bottom, and like air bubbles will rise, you find the surface as you’re coming up for air. At that moment, you know everything will be okay.

The background is an abstract interpretation of a barrelling wave from beneath the surface. The fine circle dot work represents air bubbles rising from below, a visual reminder to stop and come up for air despite the chaos around us.
